Mutiara Hall, Mutiara Exchange, Tungku Link Highway, 05 June 2026 – The Proudly Brunei Business Awards (PBBA) 2026 ceremony was held under the theme “Grow Local, Go Global”, recognising outstanding Bruneian enterprises for their business achievements, resilience, innovation, and contribution to the country’s private sector development.
Organised by the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), PBBA is an annual initiative that recognises local enterprises that have demonstrated strong business performance, sound practices, and potential for sustainable growth. The Awards form part of BEDB’s wider efforts to support enterprise development and highlight the role of local businesses in contributing to Brunei Darussalam’s economic diversification.
The ceremony was attended by members of the BEDB Board, senior government officials, strategic partners, sponsors, judges, evaluators, finalists, award recipients and members of the local business community.
Since its introduction in 2024, PBBA has provided a platform for local enterprises across various sectors to showcase their achievements, strengthen their visibility, and connect with relevant partners and stakeholders within the business ecosystem.
This year’s theme, “Grow Local, Go Global”, reflects the importance of helping Bruneian businesses build strong foundations domestically while preparing them for opportunities beyond the local market. It places emphasis on strengthening business fundamentals, improving productivity and governance, enhancing product and service quality, and supporting companies to become more market-ready and competitive over time. The theme also recognises that regional and international growth is a progression. Some of this year’s award recipients have demonstrated readiness to explore markets beyond Brunei, while others are continuing to build the capabilities, standards, and strategies needed to pursue wider growth opportunities in the future.
Through PBBA, BEDB seeks to encourage more local businesses to raise their standards, strengthen their capabilities, and better prepare for real growth opportunities. This is aligned with Brunei Darussalam’s economic diversification agenda, the aspirations of the Brunei Economic Blueprint, and the national vision for a resilient and sustainable economy.
This year’s PBBA also reflected improvements in the quality of applications received, with applicants demonstrating stronger evidence of business performance and clearer growth strategies. This progress signals PBBA’s growing role in encouraging businesses not only to compete for recognition, but also to assess their readiness, prove their capabilities, and prepare for the next stage of growth.
The ceremony recognised this year’s recipients for their achievements, business performance, and continued contribution to Brunei Darussalam’s enterprise ecosystem.
In his welcoming remarks, Daniel Leong, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Brunei Economic Development Board stated, “The Proudly Brunei Business Awards is not only about recognising achievement, but also about setting benchmarks for business excellence. This year’s theme, ‘Grow Local, Go Global’, reflects a pathway for Bruneian enterprises to strengthen their foundations at home while building the capabilities, confidence, and readiness to pursue opportunities beyond the local market over time. At BEDB, we see PBBA as part of our wider efforts to support enterprise development, raise standards, and contribute to Brunei Darussalam’s economic diversification journey.”
The Awards are supported by a rigorous and transparent evaluation process involving judges, evaluators, and subject matter experts from relevant agencies and organisations. PricewaterhouseCoopers Services (PwC), as Knowledge Partner, supported the assessment process to uphold the integrity, fairness, and credibility of the Awards.
In line with PBBA’s objective of recognising businesses that meet the required standards, some categories did not have winners this year. This reflects the rigour of the assessment process and reinforces the Awards’ role in encouraging businesses to continue raising standards over time.
BEDB extends its appreciation to all applicants, nominees, finalists, winners, judges, evaluators, subject matter experts, strategic partners, sponsors and stakeholders for their invaluable participation and support in making this year’s ceremony a meaningful celebration of Bruneian enterprise.
