Bandar Seri Begawan, 26 February 2026 – The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) today launched the Brunei MSME Festival 2026 Ramadhan Edition at Setia Point, providing structured market access, sales opportunities and export linkages for Brunei’s micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Held from 26 February to 1 March 2026, the four-day Festival brings together more than 140 local businesses across 190 booths, representing key consumer-driven sectors including food and beverage, fashion, personal care, home and lifestyle, services, and emerging brands. The platform is designed to address three areas critical to MSME growth: revenue generation, capability development, and market expansion. Participating businesses are able to test products, refine pricing strategies, engage directly with customers, and build commercial networks within a concentrated retail setting.

The Opening Ceremony was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II, and Chairman of Brunei Economic Development Board.

In her welcoming remarks, Norlela Suhailee, Director of Enterprise Development at BEDB, emphasised that the Festival is designed to go beyond short-term commercial activity or a sales-driven event. “The Brunei MSME Festival is a strategic effort to strengthen our entrepreneurial ecosystem and cultivate long-term capabilities of our MSMEs – enabling them to innovate, enhance competitiveness, build strategic partnerships and position themselves for wider market participation,” she said. She added that as Brunei’s enterprise ecosystem matures, expectations of MSMEs must evolve accordingly. “Enterprises today must be more productive, digitally enabled and outward-looking. Through initiatives like this, we aim to create the right environment for businesses to scale sustainably and participate more actively not only within our domestic market but also in regional and global value chains.”

Since its inception in 2019, the Brunei MSME Festival has hosted over 800 exhibitors, generated more than BND 1 million in cumulative sales, and attracted over 90,000 visitors. Beyond these figures, the Festival has strengthened enterprise confidence, encouraged formalisation and digital adoption, and supported businesses in testing new products and market strategies. This year’s Ramadhan Edition is also strategically timed to leverage increased consumer spending leading up to Hari Raya, enabling MSMEs to optimise revenue while strengthening operational readiness and customer engagement approaches.

Expanding Beyond Domestic Markets

In line with BEDB’s broader efforts to promote export and internationalisation of local MSMEs, the Festival incorporates a structured Hosted Buyer Programme which aims to connect local producers to regional market demand. Featuring international buyers which cover Indonesia, Malaysia and the Middle East markets, this year’s Festival is hoped to increase MSME participation in regional value chains and diversify revenue sources beyond the domestic market. Through scheduled business matching sessions, participating MSMEs gain direct engagement with international distributors and commercial partners. The programme provides practical exposure to export requirements, buyer expectations, and cross-border commercial considerations.

Strengthening Digital and Financial Readiness

To accelerate enterprise digitalisation, the Festival integrates cashless payment solutions and introduces an Online Live Selling component. These features enable exhibitors to process transactions efficiently, extend customer reach beyond the physical venue, and strengthen practical digital commerce capabilities in line with evolving consumer behaviour. Together, they reinforce digital adoption and financial readiness as critical foundations of long-term enterprise competitiveness.

Supporting Brunei’s Economic Diversification

As Brunei advances its Economic Blueprint priorities and Wawasan Brunei 2035 aspirations, strengthening MSME capability remains central to BEBD’s effort in building a dynamic and sustainable economy. Through platforms such as the Brunei MSME Festival, BEDB continues to catalyse enterprise growth, enhance local participation in value chains, encourage digital transformation, and create structured opportunities for businesses to scale responsibly.
